I think if you would’ve asked me a couple of years ago if I liked zucchini I would have easily shrugged with a quick “of course, who doesn’t?” However when I look back at my recent recipes, it’s becoming apparent that I’m a little more than just fond of zucchini! Who knew zucchini was so versatile?…
It’s amazing how quickly life can change. Just when you think you have a plan in place, in the blink of an eye, that plan has been thrown out the window and a new one begins to form. If you’ve followed along for a while, you likely know that Josh and I sold our house and we’re waiting on our rental…
There are a lot of pictures in this Zucchini Pasta with Creamy Mushroom Marsala post, and I guess part of that is to compensate for my lack of words. I said in this post that I wanted to be authentic with you, and the truth is, I’m heartbroken, discouraged and beat down. If you are new to Lemons and Basil, you can read about the trial my family is facing with my mom’s health here…
I simply cannot let March 17th come and go without sharing seven Saint Patrick’s Day recipes that feature an array of greens threaded throughout some of my favorite, albeit experimental recipes. So today, I decided to don my shamrock green in anticipation of the upcoming holiday while hoping the Luck of the Irish comes my way!…
As of Wednesday, Lemons and Basil is officially six months old! At times it feels as though it’s been much longer and others it feels as though I’ve just began. I can honestly say it’s been much-needed sense of distraction and comfort these past six months. I shared some personal things my family is facing in my last post, Vegetarian Spaghetti Squash Tacos, which explains a bit more the need for comfort this blog, and you, have provided…
I’m sure by now you know I love me some sweet potatoes. But for Breakfast? Yes, please!
Josh and I recently went to see Sigur Ros, an amazing Icelandic band that he’s loved for years, at the Woods at Fontanel. While the show was absolutely incredible, we had to wait for a decent amount of time before we could cross through the gates and make a beeline for the front near the stage. SO, what better way to pass the time than to scroll through food blogs??…
Every now and then, we all need a little indulgence!

Birthday Season.
Does anyone else have one of those in your family? You know, that month or two during the year where the birthdays are just stacked on top of each other? Or were my parents, grandparents, parents-in-law, and grandparents-in-law the only ones who seemed to all get together and decide what the best time of the year was to have a baby? Surely some of you can relate…

I’ve never really been much of a fan. Red meat, in general, isn’t something I crave or have to have. I do eat it occasionally, and even have a fabulous Grass Fed/No Hormones/No Antibiotics Beef Supplier, my father-in-law!…
Let me guess, you’re thinking, “okay I get the Paleo grain-free pizza crust…but Swiss Chard? In my pizza Crust? Weird.” And maybe you’re right, BUT I have to say that this little creation turned out pretty darn good!
I do my best to eat healthy as much as possible. It just so happens that I love vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, etc – things which fortunately are good for me. Whether I have grown to like these things because they are good for me or if they are just what my taste buds crave, I’m not really sure. However, while I don’t care for fried food, greasy burgers or processed junk, I do love…and I mean LOVE sweets…
Who knew cauliflower was so versatile? From cauliflower pizza crust to cauliflower Alfredo sauce to cauliflower steak, the options seem to be endless! I first came across a low carb cauliflower pizza crust similar to this one a few years ago when looking for a healthier pizza option. August 19, 2013. Probably not a significant day to most, but for me it marks my very first post.
I’ve poured over so many amazing food blogs, drooled over more incredible recipes than I can count and admired the writing and photography skills of these countless bloggers. So many of these women have inspiring stories, transformations, whole diet make-overs or expanded food and health knowledge to offer to the world. I don’t know that I have any of that. But I have a love for food, a passion for the way it affects our bodies, and a longing to be apart of this online community…
