Until now, I’d only heard of sweet potato toast. It sounded great, but almost too easy. So with both little ones happy and occupied the other morning, I decided to see if it was really as quick and easy as it seemed. And I gotta say, it was! Not only is this 5 Minute Sweet and Savory Sweet Potato Toast a breeze to make, but it’s so versatile with endless topping options, and makes for a great, healthy start to the day!
I keep trying to decide if I have a preference between the sweet and savory, but they’re both so different and yet so delicious! I think combining the two and starting with the savory before finishing with the sweet, might just be the way to go!

5 Minute Sweet and Savory Sweet Potato Toast
Ingredients
- SWEET Sweet Potato Toast:
- 2 slices sweet potato {1/8" to 1/4" thick}
- 2 tbsp peanut butter or Pbfit+water
- 1 banana sliced
- 1 tsp cacao nibs
- 2 tsp honey
- SAVORY Sweet Potato Toast:
- 2 slices sweet potato {1/8" to 1/4" thick}
- 2 tbsp shredded cheese
- 1/2 avocado thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp Greek yogurt
- Smoked Paprika Turmeric, Black Pepper
Instructions
- Slice the sweet potato length wise {1/8"-1/4" thick}, then add two at a time to a toaster. I set mine to the longest setting and did them once then again for about half the time. It will depend on your particular toaster and how thick you slice the sweet potatoes, but you want them to be cooked through but not too soft that they fall apart.
- For the SWEET version, once cooked, add a layer of peanut butter or Pbfit to each slice, then top with sliced banana, a drizzle of honey and cacao nibs.
- For the SAVORY version, once cooked and while still warm, add a layer of shredded cheese to each slice, then top with sliced avocado, Greek yogurt and garnish with smoked paprika, turmeric and black pepper {to your taste preference}. Enjoy!
